The Compensation tab within the Employee Master shows an employee's current salary and compensation details. The results of a salary update batch are seen on the Compensation tab after the batch processes.
The Compensation tab contains key information for employee pay, including pay period hours, hourly rate, and salary information. It also contains the employee's tax filing status for both Federal and state. Most importantly, it contains payroll-control information, including Employment Type, Pay Group, and W-2 Type versus 1099.
Some of the values seen on this tab also are seen on the Payroll tab within the Time Master. The Time Master displays payroll processing and salary information from the Employment and Compensation tabs on the Payroll tab.
WARNING: Having the option for 1099-MISC Filing Form selected for an individual’s W2 Type, causes no tax records and no tax to be processed for that individual because the 1099 employment type designates an individual as an independent contractor.
The Salary Grade Step is automatically calculated by comparing the employee's pay amount to any step amounts defined for the Salary Grade.
