Overview
Fields on the Assignment Tab
All entries on the Assignment tab are optional. Many are
recommended.
Assignment Information
- Job
Code.
Primary
job assignment.
- Position
Code. Primary
position assignment.
- Position
Begin.
Date of
position start.
- Position
End.
Optional
entry for date of position end.
- Shift
Code.
Optional
shift designation. An assigned shift may increase the employee's calculated
pay. Select a shift if the employee typically works a particular shift.
- Supervisor
Code. Assigned
direct supervisor. Selections are from the Supervisor codes validation
table.
- Job
Title. Job
or position title. A job title may be longer than thirty characters.
- FTE
Allocation. Full
Time Equivalency. For a full-time position, enter 1.00 for the FTE Allocation.
Typically, a value from 1.00 (full-time) to 0.10 (one-tenth time) is entered
as an FTE allocation. For instance, a half-time assignment is entered
as a 0.50 FTE allocation.
- FLSA
Exempt? A
selected "FLSA Exempt" flag excludes this employee's hours from
overtime calculations governed by the Fair Labor Standards Act and related
system setup.
- Union
Code. Union
membership or affiliation, if any.
- Bargain
Unit Code. Designates
employee's membership in a collective bargaining unit for a union.
- EEO Class Code. Designates
the employee's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance classification
for compliance reporting.
- Workers
Comp. Designates
employee's workers' compensation code classification.
- Business
Owner? To
indicate that this individual is for a business owner for tax reporting
purposes, select the checkbox for Business Owner.
- Corporate
Officer? To
indicate that this individual is a corporate officer for tax reporting
purposes, select the checkbox for Corporate Officer.
Succession Information
- Promotion
Potential. Promotion
potential code.
- Promotion
Timing. Promotion
timing code for estimated promotion timing.
- Risk of Leaving. Risk
of Leaving code.
- Reason for Leaving. Reason

Performance Information
- Performance

for performance evaluations. This is comparable to a competency profile
code selection for competencies (similar to skills).

- Position Detail Information... button.
Open
the Employee Position Detail. Active in edit mode, the Position Detail
button is a shortcut to the Employee Position Detail.
Making position changes on the Position Detail is recommended, especially
for position tracking and position budgeting.
WARNING: Saving
position information directly on the Employee Master does not update the
primary Employee Position Detail record and causes a conflict of information
in the system, so adding or updating an Employee Position Detail is recommended.
- Performance Summary...
button. Performance
summary is an online button that opens a summary of performance information.
This is designed for use with Performance Management features.
Succession Position

Saving and Position Control
If position control is activated, saving the Assignment tab
checks the budget for the position. If the budgeted dollars or FTE allocation
will be exceeded if this change is saved, a warning prompt displays. Click
OK. You will be prompted, "Do you want to save this record with the
position violations?" Click Cancel to avoid saving an over-budget
position. You may then change the position assignment or may cancel add
or edit mode. Alternatively, it is possible to click OK and save the record.
