System Notifications are used throughout the system for automated, pre-set system messages.

System Notification setup provides filters to include who the notification is about, what the notification is about, and when a notification is triggered. A template defines the message and includes merge fields to personalize and provide relevant information.

For each System Notification record, one "System Event" with a corresponding field set can be selected. Its template typically is defined with standardized messages that include field placeholders, similar to merge-fields in a form letter, which can be used to personalize notifications by including system information, such as the name of the recipient or the date that something is due.
