Job Shift Rates sometimes are used in hospitals to define complex job and shift differential pay rates without defining an excessive number of shift codes.
The Job Shift Rates Table is available from Validation Table Maintenance or through the shortcut button on the Job Codes Table.
A single Job code can have up to six different shift rates where Shift Codes exist that have Job Shift Numbers for numbers 1 through 6.
During pay entry, a user can select a Shift code to call that shift's number and the employee's assigned job as rates are assigned on the job's Job Shift Rates Table record and on the Shift Code. The shift selections applies the shift differentials when the pay entry record is saved.
At some hospitals, registered nurses and practical nurses work the same shifts, but are paid different shift differential rates based on their respective jobs.
