Discipline Codes Table

Discipline Codes classify types of disciplinary infractions and associate infractions with types of disciplinary actions. If the company uses a point system of demerits for discipline, a number of points can be recorded for each discipline Code.

On the Discipline Codes Table, set up codes to standardize disciplinary events, assign a disciplinary action and penalty points or demerits, and to indicate if union contact is necessary.

An indicator is available on the Discipline Codes Table to indicate if contacting the union is necessary, and a selection list is available for Discipline Action that has entries derived from the Discipline Action Codes Table.

Business Scenario

The disciplinary categories or types that are specific to the organization can be recorded as Discipline Code records along with the corresponding demerits.

Discipline Codes Table

Fields on a Discipline Code

• Code (required).  A code of ten characters or less with no spaces or special characters.
• Description (required).  Enter a description of thirty characters or less for the code.
• Active?  An active code has the Active checkbox selected, making the code available and keeping the code in effect as a valid choice. Inactivating any code can result in records with the code selected having orphaned data.
• Discipline Action.  Select a discipline action code.
• Contact Union?  Select the checkbox if contacting the union is required.
• Points.  Enter the number of penalty points assigned to this infraction. Some companies use a point system to determine escalation of consequences.
