Employee Competency Detail
Overview
Precondition:
Before
a competency review detail can be added for an employee, an employee review
detail needs to exist.
Employee Competency Detail
Fields on the Employee Competency Detail
- Employee
Number. The
employee for whom the competency information is recorded.
- Competency
Profile Cd. On
the Employee Competency Detail, select a competency profile code. Depending
on the setup of the competency profile, competency codes pre-populate
the competency rating section.
- Performance
Review (required). Select
the performance review for this competency detail. Every competency detail
must be associated with a performance review.
- Competency
Codes. Up
to six competency codes pre-populate the competency rating section. Optionally,
select alternate competency codes as needed.
- Rating
boxes. As
part of the review record, six competencies can be rated numerically from
one to ten. Ratings often are 1 to 5 with 5 being excellent. If a rating
for a competency is blank, that competency is omitted when calculating
the average. However, when a zero is entered as a Ranking,
the overall ranking is lowered.
A Rating box looks
blank when it has a space in it, but when you save, a space without a
numeral in a Rating box causes
a syntax error, such as "Line 1: Incorrect syntax near ‘,’ ."
Delete the space and save again. The system prohibits negative numbers
for competency Ratings: "Error
converting data type int to tinyint." However, negative numbers may
be entered in the Notes field.
- Notes. Optional
comments and notes can be entered but are not required.
- Average
Rating. The
average rating is system calculated to four places after the decimal point
and then rounded.
