An administrator who has access to the Enterprise Client program can group benefits into one or more benefit packages.
For benefit packages, the Code and Description should describe what it is and which employees are eligible, based on a common characteristic, such as a location or union membership.
Benefit profiles often group benefit codes where different groups of employees have access to different benefit plans based on location. For instance, if employees on the West Coast have a different Benefit Code and vendor than those on the East Coast, two profiles could be created to manage the differences for online benefit enrollments.
Employees who are grouped by a common characteristic, such as a state or union, can be assigned the same benefits package during new hire. Benefit package profiles assigned during the New Hire Wizard's process allow an entire package of benefits — those defined as part of the package that are marked to auto-create — to be auto-assigned to a new hire. Later the Benefit profile may be changed on the Employee Master for reporting and open enrollment purposes, but changes to benefit plans must be recorded through Employee Benefit Detail records.
