The Degree Codes Table generates selection lists for the Education Codes Table and education detail screens.

Business Scenario

Specific degrees can be defined on the education codes table.

Employees and Degree Codes

An employee who is a Registered Nurse might have a degree code 2, Associates Degree, for an Associate of Science in Nursing or might have a degree code 3, Bachelors Degree, for a BSN, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

On the Education Codes Table, a hospital or health care provider would define an educational code for BSN, Bachelors of Science in Nursing, with a degree code selection of 3, Bachelors Degree.

An employee with a BSN might have a license as a Registered Nurse, RN, which would need to be defined as a certification code, and the RN would be tracked on the Certification and Licenses Detail.

Candidates and Degree Codes

For use with recruitment features, the degree codes are pre-defined numeric codes from 1 to 5, with 1 equalling a high school diploma or high school equivalency and 5 equalling a doctorate degree. Greater degree codes are considered cumulative in the recruitment module.

For instance, if an applicant has degree code 5, Doctorate Degree, the recruitment module assumes that the employee meets or exceeds the qualifications for the previous levels, such as having a high school diploma, A. A., B. A., and Master's degrees.
