Attendance Codes
Details
Attendance codes provide the foundation of attendance
tracking and reporting. For an earning that has an attendance code selected
on the Earnings Codes validation table, paying earnings for paid time-off
creates absence records.
The Attendance Codes Table provides the Attendance
Code selection list on
the Employee Attendance Detail
screen. Common attendance codes include JURY
for jury duty and PTO for paid
time off.
Business Scenario
An organization needs an attendance code for an absence covered
by the Federal Medical Leave Act.
Attendance Code Setup for an FMLA Leave of Absence (LOA)
- On
the Attendance Codes Table, verify
a pre-existing Attendance Code,
or add a new code and description.
- Leave of Absence?
Select
the Leave of Absence checkbox.
- Non-Paid? For
a non-paid LOA, select the Non-Paid
indicator. An employee may still elect to be paid using their available
accrued hours from their PTO Benefit Plans even though the LOA is non-paid.
- Physician Approval? If
it is your company's
policy to require a Doctor's
Certificate of Illness for FMLA absences, select the Physician
Approval indicator.
- FMLA?
Select
the FMLA checkbox. For every Attendance
Code for an LOA that qualifies under the FMLA guidelines, follow FMLA
guidelines for an Attendance Code relating to FMLA.
- Save.
