Earnings for Benefit Plans
Earnings codes are used for some benefit plans, such
as plans for imputed income, paid time-off, and qualified third-party
sick plans.
Benefit Code can have a selected earnings code in the "Cost
and Hours Posting Info" section of the Benefit Code.
Considerations on Earnings Codes for Benefits
- Imputed
Income. Use
only one Earning Code for imputed income; one that is defined on all eligible
Benefit Code records. Be sure the Earning Code for imputed income is marked
as Non-Cash and that Wages Worked
is un-marked.
- Benefit-Hour
Earnings. A
paid time-off (PTO) plan that includes automated attendance tracking requires
the charged PTO Earnings Code to be linked to an Attendance Code, and
it requires the establishment of both Benefit Codes and Accruals. To print
benefit hours information on employee checks, the Verify Avail Hrsindicator and
the Print on Check indicator
must be selected on the Earnings Code.
- Third
Party Sick Earnings. An
earning for qualified third-party sick pay plans must have THIRDPSICKselected in the W-2 Box field on the associated Earning
code.
