Positions and Jobs (Concept)

Details

Job codes are organization groupings of positions that state general duties for the purpose of consolidated reporting and management. Job codes are used for classification purposes and organization-wide audits.

Job codes are used to create detailed descriptions of a job and to assign Workers' Compensation Codes.

Each Job can be assigned to a job family by selecting a Job Grouping Code for the Job, and an unlimited number of Jobs may share the same Job Grouping Code.

Business Scenario

An organization has two individuals working as clerks. Both have the same classification for worker's compensation purposes, and both complete similar work. However, each is assigned to a different business unit and different supervisor.  In this case, both have the same Job code and have different Position codes. Each applied to a different Requisition prior to being hired.
